|  | In meiner Kochbuch-Bibliothek finden sich an die zehn Eis-Kochbücher, DIESES aber ist das BESTE! Gekauft noch während meiner "Amerika-Jahre", habe ich - hüben wie drüben - bereits ETLICHE Rezepte (und deren leckere Variationen) nachge"kocht" - immer mit RIESENERFOLG! Wenn dieses Buch auch nicht mit Hochglanz-Bildern inspiriert/verführt, läßt es einem doch schon mit jeder kurzen Beschreibung/Einleitung das Wasser im Munde zusammenlaufen und vom noch so unbeholfenen Anfänger bis zum hoch ambitionierten Könner wird jeder in einfachen und klaren beschriebenen Zubereitungsschritten sicher ans Ziel seiner Eis-Träume (an-)geleitet. Das Buch ist in relativ einfachem Englisch geschrieben, so daß sich, hat man sich erst einmal mit den Küchen-Vokabeln vertraut gemacht, die Rezepte fast von selber "kochen"! Mein Empfehlung (und die all meiner dankbaren "Versuchskaninchen"): KAUFEN - und dann immer wieder genießen, Genießen, GENIESSEN (LASSEN)!

|  | We have just returned from Europe where the ice cream is made with "real" ingredients. What a taste sensation. After reviewing this book which has easy to follow directions and recipes which are as plain or as exotic as can be, I can't wait for my ice cream maker to arrive. I have even purchased the extra bowls for the maker so I can be ready to begin making my own family favorites such as Green Tea Ice Cream and Creme Brulee Ice Cream. Today I am going to try out one of the cone recipes so I can impress our future dinner guests. My mouth is watering just thinking about all the recipes I have just seen.
| |  | It is a tradition at our school to begin each year with a pot luck luncheon. I have an electric ice cream maker with a spare bowl. I was able to borrow an additional bowl and made 3 recipes from the book: Butter Pecan, Oreo Cheesecake, and Chocolate Malted Ball. Suffice it to say, my colleagues wanted to know where I got the recipe(s) and upon learning, several purchased this book. The format is simple and for each recipe, some suggested variations are provided. There are some recipes (Earl Grey Ice Cream) that I wouldn't touch but Bruce Weinstein has written what I consider to be the definitive guide thus far to creating exquisite ice cream desserts. You will come back to this reference time after time and you won't be disappointed!

|  | Although this book has off-the-wall ice creams (like Red Bean, Pine Nut & Prune), Granitas (Beet! ), Sorbet (Kumquat? makes me pucker just thinking about it!), it also has traditional flavors in an easy to follow format with lots of variations for each recipe. There're also sauces and toppings, shakes & sodas. There are even 3 recipes for cones. I love this book - we borrowed it from the library, then had to get our own copy.
